Environmental and Social Impact Assessment

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment

We take into account the environmental, social and the project-related human rights impacts when evaluating the transactions we support.

We make assessment of the environmental, social and project-related human rights impacts for the exports of capital goods and/or services, excluding military equipment and agricultural commodities, with a repayment period of two years or more in line with our Environmental Guidelines.

We classify all transactions where our share is equal to or above SDR 10 million as well as the transactions in or near sensitive areas (e.g natural parks, protected areas, rain forests, archeological or cultural attractions) irrespective of our share.

We classify the transactions into categories A, B or C accordance with their potential environmental and social impacts.

  • Category A: adverse environmental and/or social impacts
  • Category B: moderate adverse environmental and/or social impacts
  • Category C: minimal or no adverse environmental and/or social impacts

We want our stakeholders to know that we may disclose any information about the social, environmental and project-related human rights impacts of the transactions we support to the public by taking into account the competitive context and constraints of business confidentiality. We may also share such information with the international institutions, where we are committed for periodical reporting.

Environmental and Social Guidelines

Environmental and Social Guidelines

In this page you can find our Environmental and Social Guidelines, which we have prepared in accordance with the OECD Recommendation on Common Approaches for Officially Supported Export Credits and Environmental and Social Due Diligence (Common Approaches).

The Environmental and Social Guidelines do not cover our products with repayment terms shorter than two years and the transactions regarding the export of military equipment and agricultural products.

You can access the standards and principles we consider when assessing the environmental, social and human rights impacts of the transactions we support using the links below.
